Commend, Luke 23:46 exemplifies Jesus giving up His Spirit to God. This is illustrated as the small gold triangle ascends and leaves nothing behind but the octagon body. Jesus’ human body had served its purpose of taking the physical punishment for the sins of the world and His Spirit was returning to its home.
The same blue still runs through the crowd as in Finished, John 19:30 and it will remain there as a lasting reminder of promised eternal life for those who believe in Jesus. However, the crowd’s size is smaller. No longer is it completely surrounding Christ; His pathway to God is fully open indicating that His earthly life is complete. This last scene of Christ’s crucifixion is one of reconciliation; because of Jesus’ terrible and violent death, humankind’s relationship with God was and is continually restored. People can look forward to experiencing the same heavenly paradise to which Christ was returning. Hebrews 6:19 says, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.” |
